Using Dichroic Images
Dichroic Image Marble

Use the same size clear rod as the Dichroic BoroImage for encasing, eliminating the need to gather your clear rod. Instead you can just warm it up, make it pliable, and then smash it on the image. Never smash white hot glass on an image because it will distort the graphic and may create an undesired effect. The clear rod should be red or orange hot.
Attach Punty
Take a 3mm rod and heat the end very hot. Attach the rod to the corner edge of the Dichroic BoroImage (BoroImage should always be wiped very clean and be placed on the carbon pad metal side down). Now, while pre-heating the end 1/4” of a 10mm clear rod, put the BoroImage behind the 10mm rod and pre-heat the image way out in the flame with the glass side facing the flame. When the 10MM rod is white-hot on the tip, pull the rod out of the flame (with the image still warming in the back of the flame,) and start counting. Wait 5 seconds while the rod cools, then place the BOROIMAGE down on a carbon plate, dichroic side facing up. (NEVER PUT A WHITE HOT GATHER ON TOP OF THE DICHROIC BOROIMAGE).

Push
Push 10mm rod down on top of the image. It’s very important to only push 10mm rod until it creates a circle that encapsulates the dichroic image but stays flush with the edge of the dichro “chip”. So, if correctly applied, the corners of the image will still be sticking out. From corner to corner of the square image you should be able to run your finger along the edge and it should be flush with the circle of the 10mm encasement.
Square Corners
After that step has been perfected, you need to get the square corners of the image become a circle. Flameworker logic says to heat up in the flame and melt down the edges into a circle but Dichroic logic says that process would distort the image. Instead, take a 3mm clear rod and put the image marble way out in the flare (dichro sweet spot) and without giving heat to the 3mm rod much, heat up the corner edges of the square image and use the 3mm to lightly SMEAR the edges into a circle thereby creating a circle without getting things too hot.

Add Color
Now that you have a circle you should apply color by gathering a ball of color and pushing it into the image on the opposite side that the 10mm rod is on (I recommend applying color up to the edge of the dichro chip itself to hide any imperfections). Using a very oxidizing cool flame, slightly heat the marble and use a carbon paddle to roll all the unsmooth parts out of the sides where color meets clear.
Finish
It’s very important to finish up with a marble rounder to avoid unnecessary heat is not applied to dichro.

Email orders to dichroicimages@gmail.com
For custom ran images, you can select from our Image Library, or submit your own artwork.
There is a one-time conversion fee for custom art starting at $10 per image if you have artwork to provide.
The smallest increment for ordering images is 16 A size at $32, or 11 B size at $45, or 8 C size at $64, or 6 D size at $82.
The FULL sheet will yield 448 A size images (1/2") or 218 B size images or 112 C size images, or 66 D size images, you can pick up to 28 different images if all A size, or 18 different images if all B size, or 14 different images if all C size, or 11 different images if all D size. The FULL sheet costs $650.
The HALF sheet will yield 224 A size images (1/2") or 109 B size images or 56 C size images, or 33 D size images, you can pick up to 14 different images if all A size, or 9 different images if all B size, or 7 different images if all C size, or 5 different images if all D size. The cost of the half sheet is $350
We can also mix sizes on the order, we will do the math and help you with the numbers of selections so we maximize the dichroic use..

ORDERING
Please email your graphic or stock image numbers to : dichroicimages@gmail.com
Nearly any graphic file can be accepted, however, it is best if the artwork file is pure black / white and not color or gray. The file size and dimensions of the graphic should be larger in size.
File formats that work well are: .ai, .jpg, .pdf, .tiff, .svg, .psd

PROOFING
Once your image is converted, (usually within 24 hours of receiving your graphic file) we will prepare a price estimate and digital proofing for you to approve. Once you approve the proofing, the order will go into our upcoming image run. We run batches of sheets each week, so there is typically a 1-2 week turnaround time.

ORDER APPROVAL
Once you receive your digital proof for your pending order with DichroicImages.com, please take the time and verify that each image will be created to your specifications. On the sheet you will find the black represents the dichroic layer, with the white of the page representing the clear glass. All orders will be created with each image oriented as it appears on the proof, as if the dichroic layer of glass was facing the observer directly. We can mirror any image for applications requiring direct melting of dichroic layer against an artwork, as well as reverse the dichroic and clear layers (negative vs positive images).
Please reply with any requests for alterations, questions, or comments. Upon your approval of the proof, your order will proceed to the next phase of production.
