In general, remember glass likes to "run"
in a straight line. It should make a tearing noise when you
cut if you are applying the correct pressure. You then want
to make your break soon after or the cut will "heal".
It is strange but glass is actually considered a liquid and
this cutting is a ripple that must be followed by a break.
If you are having a hard time cutting your
sheets, try cutting them first into four smaller pieces and
then making smaller cuts. If you would like more information
please call Toll Free 866-4 DICHRO to speak with a trained
customer service rep.
Another alternative is to purchase pre-cut
strips and/or squares of BoroCoatings by Dichroic Alchemy.
These are so fast to put into production and you don't pay
for the glass that may be lost durring cutting.
SUMMARY
Suggested use for Dichroic Alchemy
Strips:
Attach punty to end of a strip of dichro, heat dichro
on the glass side not the dichro side.
Take 6 or 7mm clear or dark colored rod that heats up
easily. Rake clear or colored glass onto the back of
the strip being careful not to let the flame touch the dichro.
Use a high oxy flame to encase work out in the flare
where the flame is cooler.
Attach punty to other side and stretch dichro only a
little or none at all.
The dichro is now ready to use for inside out design,
cane builds, or outside design.
